Cross the road from
the Anella Olímpic and you enter the grounds of the Palau
Nacional de Montjuïc, originally built for the 1929 World
Fair - and now houses the Catalan Museum of Art. In a way
it reminds me of Alexandra
Palace.
The approach to the Palau Nacional from the Plaça Espanya
is via the Plaça de Carles Buigas - home of the 'Magic Fountans'
and named in honour of the inventor of "this water, sound
and colour spectacle". Sadly, even during the summer,
the fountains do not operate every evening.
From Plaça Espanya, it's the lovely air-conditoned metro
(a bargain at €1.05) back to the city centre for a refreshing
drink.
